Message fully releasing is what I was getting at. Even if the clutch is released fully if the flywheel is not uniform and perfectly flat the disk can rub the high spots of the uneven surface. This is why it is very important to resurface flywheels during install. In your case, it can't be surfaced but only rebuilt which will still leave high/low spots.

The only other thing it could be is the disk has a little too much marcel in between the linings. If this is an older kit it is possible. SBC has taken this into consideration on the newer kits and now is not an issue. As with all other clutch manufacturers they remove the marcel completely so the kits will release with the little bit of throw the Z32 has at the release bearing.


Give it some time to break in and I think you will find your release will get better and better. You wil probably end up re-adjusting once everything seats after the break in period.
